The struggle and success story of Karthik Auropy
Every year millions of youth in India prepare for the UPSC exam, but very rarely they are able to pass it. Karthik Jeevani of Gujarat is one of the selected candidates who took the UPSC exam four times, passed it three times and finally got 8th rank in the fourth attempt and became IAS. His visit is an example of struggle, hard work and unique dedication.
Education and early life
Karthik Birani was born and raised in Gujarat. He completed his early education till eighth grade in Gujarati medium. Subsequently, he continued to study through English medium and passed 12th standard. Karthik was meritorious since childhood in studies and took admission in Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bombay by performing brilliantly in JEE Main and Advanced Examination.
UPSC starts and first unsuccessful attempt
While studying in IIT Bombay, he dreamed of becoming an IAS and started preparing for the Civil Services Examination after graduation. In 2016, he took the UPSC exam for the first time, but did not succeed. However, he did not give up and decided to further strengthen his preparation.
IPS became in second attempt
After the failure of the first attempt, he changed his strategy and took the exam again in 2019. This time his performance was better and he secured All India 94th rank. However, to become an IAS, they only needed two rank and they missed it. But due to success in this exam, he was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS).
Preparation to become IAS amid IPS training
Even after becoming IPS, Karthik’s dream was to become an IAS. He continued to study during his training and took the UPSC exam for the third time in 2019. This time he got 84th rank, but it was not enough to become IAS. Despite this, he did not lose courage and took the exam for the fourth time in 2020. This time his hard work paid off and he achieved 8th rank in the whole of India, which he managed to become IAS.
How did you prepare for UPSC exam?
The biggest reason for the success of Karthik biography was his hard work and discipline. He made a strong strategy to prepare for UPSC.
- Study 10 hours every day: He regularly studied 10 hours and divided his study material into small parts.
- Use of online resources: Apart from books, he also took advantage of the study material available on the Internet, interviews of toppers and online classes.
- Time Management: Karthik made a strict schedule for studies and followed it honestly.
- Study by making notes: He made brief and effective notes for every subject, making the revision easier.
- Mock test and answer writing practice: Before the examination, he gave many mock tests and paid special attention to answer writing, which strengthened his answer writing capacity.
Family support and inspiration
Karthik’s parents always stood with him and inspired him. His father said that while Karthik was training for IPS, he took 15 days leave to take the UPSC exam. His dedication proved to be helpful in getting him success.
