Shopkeepers and employers who work with ten or ten workers and employees in Chhattisgarh state will have to register their shops in the labor department under the new shop and establishment Act 2017. For this, all the district offices of the labor department have been authorized. The District Office of Labor Department will register shops and installations online through departmental portal shramevjayate.cg.gov.in. The Chhattisgarh Shop and Establishment Act has become effective since the month of February and in the next six months, it has been made mandatory to register shops and establishments in the labor department as per the provisions of this Act.

Under the Act, the Labor Commissioner has been appointed as Chief Facilitator and Labor Inspector and Sub Inspector as facilitator. Based on the number of workers and employees employed for registration of shops and installations, the registration fee has been fixed from Rs 1 thousand to a maximum of Rs 10,000. After registration, every shop and establishment will be provided a digital signature certificate with labor identity. The shops and installations registered under the Old Shop and Establishment Act, Employees State Insurance Act and Employees Braduate Fund Act will be considered registered under the new Act, but they have to apply to get labor identity number within six months from the date of implementation of the new Act. For this, they will not have to pay any registration fee. After applying after six months, it will be mandatory to deposit the fee as per rules.
The employers will have to apply online on the departmental portal of amending or closing the registration-labor identity number of their shop or establishment. The employers will have to maintain their employees in electronic form etc. The employers will have to upload the annual report online in the departmental portal by 15 February every year. Women working in shops and installations can also be employed in the night shift by providing facilities as per provisions. Employees will also have to give weekly leave.
