The way has been cleared to burn the toxic waste of union carbide. This garbage has been brought from Bhopal to Pithampur. Social activist Chinmay Mishra had demanded a ban on it, which was rejected by the Supreme Court. In the hearing on the case on Thursday morning, the court said that if the petitioners want, they can register an objection in this regard before the High Court. The court has also taken the government’s reply on record, stating that all the rules will be ensured during burning garbage.

In the last hearing, the government sought a response
In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the Madhya Pradesh government that what arrangements do it have to deal with it during the burning of garbage of Bhopal’s Union Carbide Factory in Pithampur in Dhar district. On Thursday, the government filed a reply. The petition alleged that no arrangements have been made for disaster management in the event of a sudden disaster during burning garbage.

Four to five containers will be opened on Thursday in 12 containers of 337 tonnes of union carbide kept in the premises of the Re-Sustainability Company in Pithampur for the last two months. Chemicals like sodium sulfide will be added to remove the waste from the container and control the harmful elements present in it. On Thursday, dry runs will be started in the incinerator and the incinerator will be started for 12 hours and in its first chamber, 850 to 900 ° C and in the second chamber, the temperature will be transported from 1100 to 1200 ° C in the second chamber. After this, the process of burning the union carbide waste into an incinerator will start. Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh said that according to the court’s directive, we will start the process of burning waste from Thursday.

Petitioner’s objections dismissed
Petitioner social activist Chinmay Mishra had said in a petition filed in the Supreme Court that preparations have been made to burn poisonous waste of Union Carbide without following the environment and health rules. The petitioner alleged that there is a village 250 meters away from the place where garbage is to be burnt. There are three other villages within a radius of one km, but the local citizens were not provided an alternative place. If there is an accident during burning garbage, then there is no hospital in Pithampur.

Garbage being burnt on the order of High Court
It is noteworthy that 40 years after the Bhopal gas tragedy, the state government is disposing of the waste of Union Carbide on the order of Madhya Pradesh High Court. For this, preparations were made to burn 337 tonnes of waste from Bhopal to Pithampur in Dhar district in January, but the locals protested, fearing the side effects of its poisonous elements due to the burning of the waste.
