The Cryptocurrency Exchange bybit recently faced a major cyber attack, stolen a cryptocurrency of about $ 1.5 billion (about Rs 12848 crore). It is considered to be one of the largest crypto hacks ever.
Bybit Hack: What did CEO say?
Confirming the cyber attack, CEO Ben Zhou of Bybit said that an offline Ethereum Wallet of the exchange was targeted by the hacker. In this, $ 1.46 billion cryptocurrency was taken out through various transactions. However, Zhou said that bybit is still solvent and all users’ assets are safe.
Ethereum prices fall
After this attack, the hacker sold about $ 200 million stake ether on decentralized exchanges, falling to 4% of the price of Ethereum. According to Coingecko, the price of Etreum declined by 2.4% to $ 2,668.18.
How did bybit hack?
Blockchain analyst ZachxBT first reported this attack. The hacker transferred 401,346 eth ($ 1.1 billion), Megaeth (MegaTH) and Staked Ether (STETH -USD) to a new wallet and then started selling them.

According to a report by the blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis, $ 2.2 billion was stolen from the Crypto Exchange attacks in 2024. This was the fourth consecutive year when the stolen amount was more than $ 1 billion.
