Madhya Pradesh first in giving assistance to poor prisoners: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is the first in the country in providing financial assistance to poor prisoners for bail and fine. In this, a fine amount of up to 25 thousand rupees is sanctioned to the financially weak detainees. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country, which has so far approved an amount of Rs 6 lakh 43 lakh 517 as fine and bail to 31 prisoners. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is also a leading state in the country in following the provisions of Section 479 of the Indian Civil Civil Protection Code. This section provides that “The jail superintendent, the imprisonment of the provided imprisonment of the accused person in the jail or the completion of one-third period, is immediately written in writing to take action to the honorable court concerned to make such a person on bail on bail. Will apply. ” Under this provision, cases of 78 keys of the state were sent to the court, out of which 46 kedis were processed and they were released. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated the officials of the jail and corrective services department on the top of the state in both the cases.

The Chief Minister was directing Dr. Yadav Budhwar to the review meeting of the Department of Jail and Correctional Services at Samvat Bhavan (Chief Minister’s residence). He instructed departmental officers to strengthen the security system of prisoners in the state jails and speed up their intellectual and character reform activities.

E-governance system continues in all the jails of the state

It was informed in the meeting that the e-registration system is in force in all the jails of the state. In this system, information related to detainees is constantly updated. A total of 13 lakh 17 thousand 303 income has been recorded so far through the e-Privation Management System (with Legacy Data). Information about more than 1 lakh 31 thousand detainees has also been entered through ICJS. It was told that since July 1, 2024, under the new Criminal Act, 48 thousand 139 prisoners have been received on the e-pronunciation. Efforts are also being made to increase the capacity of jails.

Proposal for premature release is valid by giving exemption in punishment on National Tribal Gaurav Day on 15 November

In the meeting, the departmental officers proposed to release the prisoners on the National Tribal Gaurav Day on 15 November every year. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav approved the proposal and said that the prisoners with good conduct should be provided special avoidance on this special day. In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed the prisoners from open jails to make the number of open jails in the state by referring to freedom. He said that the jail should not only be a place to face the punishment, but also the center of improvement and rehabilitation. He spoke of prioritizing corrective activities in jails. He stressed on expanding schemes like skill development, yoga, spiritual education and counseling for prisoners. This will not only lead to mental and character development of prisoners, but will also ensure positive return in their society.

Encourage innovations

In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that society should also participate in jail reform work. He stated the need to run a reform program in jails with the help of social and religious organizations and experts. The state government will make every effort for the improvement and rehabilitation of prisoners so that they can live a respectable life in the future.

Departmental officials gave information about the current functioning of the department, activities, achievements and future plans of the last one year.
