Let me tell you that Harley-Davidson tariff has been a matter of dispute between India and America for many years. US President Donald Trump has also spoken many times on this issue and he had talked about improving tariffs from India. This new announcement in this budget is expected to reduce the tension between the two countries on the tariff issue.

How much cheap bikes:

According to this new decision of the government, the import duty on motorcycles of engine capacity up to 1,600 cc to be imported as Complete Built Unit (CBU) has been reduced from 50 percent to 40 percent. These bikes were imported from the CBU route, due to which they cost more.

Apart from this, motorcycles with engine capacity more than 1,600 cc have been cut more. These have been reduced from 50 percent to 30 percent. According to the new budget, the import duty on the semi-nocked down (SKD) kit has been reduced from 25 percent to 20 percent, and the duty on the bikes imported from a completely knocked down (CKD) route is reduced from 15 percent It has been reduced to 10 percent.

This deficiency in tariffs will see a strong cut in the prices of premium motorcycles of brands like Harley-Davidson and Ducati in India. With this, this expensive and high price bikes will also be easily available to the people. Experts believe that this is expected to increase demand for imported premium bikes.

The decision to cut tariffs on imported bikes has been taken at a time when Donald Trump has also threatened to be interpreted on countries that impose high tariffs on American goods. In December last year, Trump said that the tax imposed by India is more. He said that “If they tax us, we will also impose the same tax on them.”
