Chief Minister gave guidelines to collectors for prevention of bird flu

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has given detailed guidelines for the prevention of bird flu across the state, taking it seriously after confirming the bird flu case in the state. The Rapid Response Team has been formed to prevent bird flu in the state. While forming a control room at the state and district level, all the collectors and officials of the Veterinary Department have also been instructed to take precautionary measures, take vigilance and follow the instructions.

It is worth noting that the case of bird flu (avian Enfluenza) has been confirmed in the Government Kukkat rearing area located in Raigad district of the state. On 30 January 2025, a team of veterinarians was formed after reporting a large number of birds’ death in the Kukkat rearing area. After investigation, National High Security Animal Disease Institute, Bhopal confirmed the bird flu virus on 31 January 2025.

On the instructions of the operator veterinarian services, 1 km of the affected kukkat rearing area in Raigad district has been declared an infected zone for the prevention of bird flu. Poultry and egg shops have been closed by declaring a radius of 1 to 10 km of the affected area and Sero Sarvalance work has been started. The district administration Raigad has also instructed the poultry parents to compensate the government at the rates fixed by the Government of India. The movement of Politi Products from the infected zone in Raigad Poultry area has been banned. The officials of the Veterinary Department have also been asked to use the Personal Protection Equipment Kit.

The operators have appealed to the general public by veterinary services not to panic, because all necessary action has been taken in the communicated area. Poultry products can be consumed with hygiene and caution, as they are rich in nutrition and help to relieve malnutrition. He said that it has also ensured that no information about bird flu cases has been received in other parts of the state. Avian Enfluenza is a fatal infectious disease, which spreads to birds. However, so far no case of this virus infection has been seen in India. Nevertheless, all people need to be cautious about the symptoms of the virus and the risk of infection.
