Central government announced 942 Gallantry Award, five persons posthumously awarded valor medal


New Delhi

The Central Government has announced bravery and service medal recipients in honor of Republic Day 2025. A total of 942 personnel of police, fire fighting, home guards, civil security and reform services have been honored. Five of these persons have been posthumously awarded the bravery medal.

These include Himayun Muzammil, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Girjesh Kumar Uddde of Border Security Force, Sunil Kumar Pandey, constable of Central Reserve Police Force, Head Constable Ravi Sharma of Sashastra Seema Bal and Selection Grade Fireman Satish Kumar Raina.

Out of these medals, 95 are bravery medals.

The Union Home Ministry said that those who received the awards include police, fire fighting, home guards and civil security personnel and personnel working in corrective services.

Among the Bravery Award winners, Left-wing extremism is being honored for his brave action, 28 posted in affected areas, 28 in Jammu and Kashmir region, three in the Northeast and 36 in other areas.

101 soldiers to the President’s Award for Special Service

101 soldiers have been handed over the Presidential Medals for the Special Service (PSM). Out of these, 85 police personnel, five fire service personnel, seven civil security and home guard service and four corrective service awards have been given.

Apart from this, out of the personnel who were given 746 commendable service medals (MSM), 634 will be given police service, 37 fire service, 39 civil security and home guard service and 36 corrective service.

This benefit will be available with medal

The soldiers receiving the President’s Medal (PSM) for the specific service are given Rs 6000 per month.
The soldiers receiving the bravery medal (GM) are given Rs 6000 per month.

Who gets bravery medal?

Bravery medal (GM) is given for rare specific work of valor and specific work of valor, including protecting life and property, preventing crime or arresting criminals.

In this, the risk is assessed according to the obligations and duties of the officer concerned. The Presidential Medal (PSM) for special service is given for special specific records in the service and for commendable service, a medal (MSM) is given for valuable service characterized by resources and dedication to duty.

A total of 746 commendable service medals (MSM) were distributed. Of these, 634 medals were given to members of the police service, 37 fireworks members, 39 civil defense and members of the Home Guard Service and 36 to the members of the reform service.
