Manoj Tiwari vs Gautam Gambhir…This fight is old, but now it has taken a new form. Manoj Tiwari is currently away from the cricket setup, but Gautam Gambhir is the head coach of Team India. Manoj Tiwari has now narrated the incident from where the rift between the two started, which at one time turned into abusive language and was about to reach a scuffle. Manoj Tiwari is the same one who had recently called Gautam Gambhir a hypocrite.
Manoj Tiwari told in the interview that during the 2013 IPL, he had a falling out with Gautam Gambhir. At that time he was the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders i.e. KKR team. Manoj Tiwari told that there was a fight between him and Gambhir in the Ranji match in 2025, which started in the 2013 IPL. Former cricketer Manoj Tiwari said, “He was already angry because I had had a fight with him earlier in KKR. This was because my batting order in KKR was continuously going down and my place in the Indian team was not confirmed at that time. I got a chance in friendly matches against whichever foreign team came. In one such match, I was the highest scorer against Australia. I had scored 129 runs and he had scored 105 runs. He got angry in that match also. When the innings was over, we had to go for fielding. When I was applying sunscreen, he suddenly got angry. what are you doing? Come on, come down quickly.”
Tiwari further said, “I was upset after this rift. As soon as I went to the washroom after the end of the innings during a match at Eden Gardens. He came from behind and started saying, this attitude of yours will not work. I will make you such that I will never feed you. He was a senior. I used to respect him, but this time I got angry and said Gauti Bhai, this will not work. Then Wasim Akram (who was part of the support staff of KKR) came in between… so it stopped that day, otherwise a scuffle would have happened.” That year, KKR released him from the team, but in 2015, Gambhir and Tiwari faced each other again. This time it was Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla ground. After a break, Manoj Tiwari came on the field to bat, but the cushion of his helmet was left in the dressing room. While reaching the pavilion, he told a player that he was reaching the crease, you should bring the cushion. Manoj Tiwari reached the crease, but stayed until the cushion came for batting. In such a situation, Gautam Gambhir got enraged.
According to Manoj Tiwari, Gautam Gambhir abused him like his mother and sister. Manoj Tiwari further told that he was preparing to take guard (ready to bat), but during this time Gautam Gambhir felt that he was wasting time. He told, “As soon as I took the leg guard. He was at slip. He started abusing from the slip. Such abuse cannot be explained. I never took any abuse or abuse of my mother or sister from anyone. Still, I controlled my temper and said, Gauti Bhai, why are you abusing? While abusing he said, meet me in the evening…I will beat you. Then I said why kill it now in the evening. Come on.
