As the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign completed 10 years on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the initiative has played an important role in overcoming gender biases and also ensuring that girl children get access to education and achieving their dreams. Its objective is to stop the declining child sex ratio and address issues related to women empowerment. The scheme is being implemented by three ministries – Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resources.

Modi said in a series of posts on ‘X’, ‘Today we are completing 10 years of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ movement. Over the last decade, it has become a transformative, people-driven initiative and people from all walks of life have participated in it.’ He said, ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao has played an important role in overcoming gender biases and has also created the right environment to ensure that girl children get education and opportunities to achieve their dreams.’

The Prime Minister thanked the people and various community service organizations for their dedicated efforts in this campaign and said that ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ has achieved remarkable milestones. “There have been significant improvements in districts with historically low child sex ratios and awareness campaigns have created a deeper understanding of the importance of gender equality,” she said.

He also congratulated all the stakeholders who brought this ‘movement’ alive at the grassroots level. He called for, “Let us continue to protect the rights of our daughters, ensure their education and build a society where they can thrive without discrimination.” The Prime Minister said that together we will ensure that May the coming years bring even more progress and opportunities for the daughters of India.
