Income Tax Department officials in Telangana raided the residences of prominent producers of the Tollywood film industry in the early hours of Tuesday in Hyderabad city.
According to sources, these raids are being conducted in many important areas of the city like Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Kondapur and Gachibowli. Some of the prominent personalities associated with the Telugu film industry included in the raid are famous filmmaker Dil Raju, his sister Sirish and Dil Raju’s daughter Hansitha Reddy.
According to sources, the houses of these persons and their related properties are being investigated. Some individuals and companies have adopted illegal methods to avoid ‘tax’. The raid could be part of a larger operation in which officials have started going through important documents and records to probe the financial activities of the suspects.
Dil Raju Productions is famous for big budget films in the Telugu film industry and recent projects produced by them include “Game Changer” and “Sankranti Ki Vaastunam”. These films were specifically produced with huge investment amounts for mass release during the Sankranti season.
It is noteworthy that the raids being conducted by the Income Tax Department in Hyderabad are still going on and detailed information is awaited.
