17 soldiers have been killed in the police-Naxalite encounter in Bijapur. Today, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, who came to meet the soldiers injured in the encounter, gave a big statement on this and said that both the soldiers are now healthy and out of danger. One is from Assam and the other is from Ladakh and they will recover soon. They have spoken to their families, I have also spoken to them. One jawan has suffered leg injuries and doctors have said he will recover soon, while the other has suffered eye injuries and underwent surgery yesterday. This was an inaccessible area and the soldiers have carried out a major operation.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma today met two brave soldiers injured in the Maoist attack in Putkel, Bijapur, at the hospital in Raipur. During this, he inquired about the well-being of the soldiers, talked to them and encouraged them.
The Deputy Chief Minister took information from the concerned doctors and officials about the progress of the treatment of the soldiers and directed to ensure that there is no deficiency in their treatment. He said that due to the bravery and courage of these soldiers, we are getting continuous success on the Naxal front.
While wishing the speedy recovery of the soldiers, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government is determined to establish peace and security in the Naxal affected areas. The sacrifice and dedication of the soldiers will never be forgotten. His courage has made the entire state proud.
Let us tell you that on the information about the presence of Maoists in the forests of South Bastar area under Bijapur region, a joint team of DRG Bijapur, DRG Sukma, DRG Dantewada, Cobra 204, 205, 206, 208, 210 and CARIPU 229 battalions had set out on an anti-Maoist operation. During the operation, several intermittent encounters took place between the security forces and the Naxalites from 09:00 am on January 16. Naxalites are likely to suffer heavy losses in the encounter. At present, the search operation is going on at the spot.
