After the defeat of Team India, questions were raised on the entire coaching staff including captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. According to a report, now Virat Kohli will be seen playing in domestic cricket. Rishabh Pant will also play along with him. Both these players can play for Delhi in Ranji Trophy.
According to the news, Delhi and District Cricket Association has added the names of Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli to the list of probable players. Both these players can be seen playing in Ranji Trophy. DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma said, “Virat should take inspiration from Mumbai cricketers. They should play domestic cricket whenever they are available. There has always been a culture in Mumbai, their Indian team players come for Ranji matches whenever they are available.”
Kohli’s disappointing performance on Australia tour –
Kohli had a disappointing performance on the Australia tour. Virat was out after scoring 17 runs in the first innings of the Sydney Test and 6 runs in the second innings. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 36 runs in the first innings of Melbourne Test and 5 runs in the second innings. Kohli was able to score only 3 runs in Brisbane. Earlier, he returned to the pavilion after scoring 7 runs and 11 runs in Adelaide.
Senior players of Team India do not play in domestic cricket –
Many senior players of the Indian team did not play domestic cricket till now. Along with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, other names are also included in this list. But now BCCI has adopted a strict attitude regarding this. BCCI had recently held a review meeting. After this, it has been made mandatory for the players to play in domestic matches.
Domestic cricket should be kept on its priority list
Arun Jaitley said, “Participating in domestic tournaments is exceptionally important. One cannot take part while on national duty. Otherwise, they should participate. Since players are managed by NCA and national selectors there are many things depending on their load management etc. But they should keep domestic cricket on their priority list, which is exceptionally important.”
Kohli last participated in Ranji Trophy in 2012
Kohli last participated in Ranji Trophy for Delhi in 2012. When Rohan Jaitley was asked whether DDCA has contacted Kohli or not, he said, “Whether we have contacted or not, in that regard I am sure the selectors and CAC will be in touch and are coordinating things.” , so this is something they can respond to in a better way.”
Emerging cricketers of Delhi will benefit from Kohli’s presence.
The remaining two rounds of Ranji Trophy are scheduled to start from January 23. In this, Delhi has a match with Saurashtra in Rajkot. Then from January 30, they will play Railways in their final group match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Jaitley stressed that Kohli’s presence in the camp could leave a long-term impact on the budding cricketers of Delhi.
