A large number of devotees are going from Chhattisgarh to participate in the Maha Kumbh Mela which is going to be held in Prayagraj on January 13 after 13 years. For this, seven special trains are running from Chhattisgarh to Mahakumbh on behalf of the Railways.
At the same time, due to regular trains being completely packed, bookings in special trains have started increasing. Every day hundreds of travelers from Raipur are booking tickets to go to Mahakumbh. Within the last 15 days, more than eight thousand seats have been booked from Raipur-Bilaspur.
According to the information received from the Railway Reservation Center, special trains have started running for Prayagraj via Raipur. On January 8, a second special train left from Raipur carrying hundreds of devotees. Seeing the way booking in trains is increasing, Railways may have to add additional coaches in the trains in the coming days.
More crowd on Saturday-Sunday
The seven Kumbh special trains have more than 8,400 seats including sleeper and AC coaches. Railway zone officials said that due to the running of special trains, passengers are traveling to Prayagraj in sleeper coaches for only Rs 518. Sleeper booking is highest in special trains.
At the same time, traveling in Sarnath and Barauni Express, which runs regularly from Raipur, has become difficult due to long waiting times. The waiting status of this train is more than 60 on every day of January.
Apart from this, the waiting list in both the trains on Saturday and Sunday is beyond 100. The route of the special train is from big stations, but this train passes through small stations of Uttar Pradesh. Because of this the waiting list is also high.
Special train from Bilaspur on 22nd
Bilaspur-Varanasi Kumbh Mela special train will leave from Bilaspur on Saturday 22nd February and from Varanasi on Monday 24th February. This train will go from Raipur to Varanasi via Gondia.

Visakhapatnam-Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Kumbh Special train will pass through Raipur from Visakhapatnam on every Thursday on 16th and 23rd January and 20th and 27th February.
Similarly, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay-Vishakhapatnam Kumbh Special will leave from Raipur on 18th and 25th January, 8th and 22nd February and every Saturday on 1st March 2025 from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay station.
Similarly, Visakhapatnam-Gorakhpur Kumbh Special will run from Visakhapatnam on Sunday, January 19 and February 16 and Gorakhpur-Visakhapatnam Kumbh Special will run from Gorakhpur on January 22 and February 19.
