In Jamnagar, Gujarat, the government has launched a big bulldozer action on the sea shore. Here, 9 religious structures built on Pirotan island and other encroachments have been demolished with bulldozers. This action has been taken considering it a threat to national security. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi has also given this information by tweeting.
It was told by the Information Department of Gujarat Government that this encroachment was spread over 4000 square feet on Pirotan Island. Keeping in mind the national security and protection of the marine ecosystem, the area was freed from encroachment. Pirotan Island is located near five SPMs (single point moorings), which supply 60 percent of the country’s crude oil. This island is part of the Marine National Park. It was told by the government that encroachment was causing harm to marine life.
The Gujarat government has said that the construction of religious structures had increased illegal movement of people in the area, raising serious national security concerns. This place could have been used for drug consignment and other illegal activities. Encroachment and related activities posed a threat to vital industries and defense establishments.
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Shanghvi shared a video on Twitter showing the before and after bulldozer action. He wrote, ‘Pirotan Island in Jamnagar is now free from all illegal encroachments. Pirotan Island is part of the Marine National Park and is important for national security. Yesterday, 9 illegal religious structures spread over 4000 square feet were removed from the island and the natural condition was restored.
