More and more people should participate in the marathon: Minister Sarang

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang discussed with the officials of private and government universities regarding the Army Marathon to be held on January 19. He appealed to all the university youth and faculty to participate in the marathon to stay fit. Everyone agreed to participate in this to stay fit. Minister Shri Sarang called upon the people of Bhopal to participate in the marathon in maximum numbers.

Marathon will be held in three categories
Minister Shri Sarang said that we should run with the Indian Army for Clean India, Green India, Fit India. It should symbolize endurance, determination and victory. He informed that the marathon will promote the Fit India campaign of unity and patriotism of the Government of India through its motto “Fit India, Run with Indian Army”. There are 3 categories in the marathon, in which registration can be done at minimum fee for 21 km, 10 km and 5 km. Participants will be given a T-shirt and a certificate for participating in the Armee Marathon. Not only this, its certificate will also be supplied to institutions and universities along with the memento. He told that the marathon will end at Dronachal via VIP Road from Dronachal in Bhopal. Minister Shri Sarang has also asked the officials of all the universities to give wide publicity through the social media accounts of the related organizations and institutions.

Important role of Army in our security
Minister Shri Sarang said that we are safe at home and in the country, Army has an important contribution in this. For this, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has asked to publicly express the feeling of respect towards the army and soldiers. An important set-up of Army is also established in Bhopal. Citizens can show cooperation and respect through Army Marathon. He said that history can be created by maximum participation in the marathon.

Promote culture of fitness
Army Major General Shri Sumit Kabathiyal said that the support of the state government is being received through Minister Shri Sarang. This marathon will promote the culture of fitness and will prove helpful in staying fit and making people aware about health. He told that through the battlefield in Drunachal, information about the history of the war and martyrs will also be acquired. He told that around 600 registrations have been done by NCC in the marathon. Marathon is for everyone, family and friends can all participate in it.

Prize up to Rs 10 lakh
Ormi Marathon will start at 6 am. In this, about 12 thousand participants from all regions will take part in the race in all three categories. Apart from attractive sponsored prizes, cash prizes up to Rs 10 lakh will also be given away. Cash prizes of Rs 5,30,000 will be given to winners of different categories in Half Marathon, Rs 2,64,000 to winners of different categories in 10 km and Rs 1,87,000 will be given to winners of different categories in 5 km. Army Marathon Bhopal 2025 is being organized by Sudarshan Chakra Corps of Indian Army to commemorate Army Day on 15 January. This marathon has been organized as an annual tribute to the historic day when General KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander in Chief of the Indian Army in the year 1949. It will begin from Bhopal, bringing together members of the armed forces, local communities and sports enthusiasts. Army Marathon in Bhopal is the first sports event to be organized in Bhopal under the aegis of Headquarters West MP Sub Area. The objective is to make the Army Marathon a major event in the sporting world and enter it as an annual marathon calendar along with the Fit India campaign.
