South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has expressed confidence that his team can cause a big upset against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship 2025. He said that the Proteas know how to beat Australia at Lord’s. In fact, South Africa had won by 10 wickets in the second Test being played against Pakistan in Cape Town on Monday. With this victory, South Africa has defeated Pakistan 2-0 in the two-match Test series, thereby entering the final of the World Test Championship 2025 for the first time.
Rabada took six wickets against Pakistan. “It’s really a long way off, but for a big occasion like the World Test Championship final, you have to be prepared,” fast bowler Rabada said on SuperSport. South Africa vs Australia has always been a good rivalry because we play cricket to a large extent. We play the same way. We play hard and they play hard, we know that.”
He further added, “We also know how to beat them. (Test cricket) is our best format, which we are playing right now. When you look at South African cricket and all our legends, they have all been great Test cricketers in the world. The best players are Test cricketers and this series against Pakistan has been fantastic.”
After defeating Pakistan, South Africa has reached the top of the points table. It has got 69.44 percent marks, while Australia is at second place with 63.73 marks. At the same time, due to no Test match being scheduled for South Africa before the WTC final, Proteas coach Shukri Conrad talked about the possibilities of their upcoming match.
Conrad said, “We will probably try to organize a Test match against Ireland or Afghanistan in Britain. However, if unsuccessful we will definitely go out a few days early and make sure we camp well there , maybe it’s like that in Canterbury.”
