Mukesh Chandrakar, a young journalist from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, who exposed corruption worth Rs 120 crore in road construction, was brutally murdered. Chandrakar was missing since 7 pm on January 1. His body was recovered from the septic tank built in the yard of the accused contractor and his relative Suresh Chandrakar.

After the information about this dreadful murder came to light, the journalists of the entire state are demanding from the government to give death sentence to the accused related to this case. The entire area is in shock due to the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar in Bijapur. Mukesh was only 28 years old and was making his mark in the field of journalism. According to information, in 2021, Maoists had kidnapped some CRPF soldiers. Mukesh played an important role in the release of these soldiers. The state police had also appreciated his bravery. Mukesh used to report on Naxalite attacks, encounters and other issues in Bastar region.

Three murderers arrested so far –
Police have so far arrested three murderers in this murder case, which includes one Ritesh Chandrakar and two other people. Ritesh Chandrakar is said to be the cousin of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar. Police is tracing the second accused Suresh Chandrakar. Suresh is the same contractor on whose property Mukesh Chandrakar’s body was recovered from inside the septic tank. The government has constituted an 11-member SIT investigation team in this case. The police have seized three bank accounts of accused Suresh and are extracting the details of others. Bastar division’s IG P. Sundarraj, while disclosing the matter on Saturday, said that two people together had murdered journalist Mukesh Chandrakar. Contractor’s Munshi Ramteke and his brother Ritesh Chandrakar had carried out the crime. Mukesh was attacked with a steel rod. An attempt was made to destroy the evidence after the incident. Suresh Chandrakar has been made the main accused in the case.

Crowd gathered for the last farewell –
Journalists bid last farewell to journalist Mukesh Chandrakar on Saturday. During this time everyone’s eyes remained moist. Everyone looked extremely angry about this massacre. Local journalists have demanded the state government to hang the accused in this case and destroy their movable and immovable property. Journalists of Bastar division had called for Bijapur bandh on Saturday in protest against the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar. In protest against the murder, a two-hour symbolic jam was also held at Bijapur Hospital Chowk.

CM Sai expressed grief –
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has expressed grief over the murder of Bijapur journalist Mukesh Chandrakar. Expressed deep condolences to the family members. CM Sai said that the culprit of this incident will not be spared under any circumstances. He said that he prays to God to give place to the departed soul at his feet and provide strength to the bereaved family in this hour of grief.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted on X that the news of the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar is shocking. According to reports, Mukesh had exposed corruption in his report, after which he was brutally murdered. I demand from the state government that strict and immediate action should be taken in this matter, the culprits should be given strict punishment and consideration should be given to giving appropriate compensation and job to the family of the deceased.
