Gariaband.
Security forces have encountered three Naxalites in the Naxal-affected Sornamal forest of Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. The District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) team had surrounded the Naxalites from all sides. Around 300 soldiers from Chhattisgarh-Odisha were present on the spot in this Naxal operation.
Dead bodies and automatic weapons have been recovered from the spot. Gariaband SP Nikhil Rakhecha has confirmed the encounter. The security forces had surrounded the Naxalites from all sides by creating a maze in the Sornamal forest bordering Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Due to this the Naxalites could not run away. The slain Naxalites are being identified. It is said that these Naxalites had fled from Bastar and entered Gariaband. Police searching operation is still going on after the Naxalite encounter. The force says that the Naxalite operation will help in controlling Naxalite cases in the area.
