Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla has said that efforts to check and improve the health of adolescent girls, regular check-up of women before and during pregnancy along with post-natal monitoring are important to improve the situation of MMR and IMR. He said that a healthy adolescent girl later becomes a healthy mother. For this, along with departmental efforts, cooperation of social organizations and general public is required, so that pregnant women and adolescent girls remain aware of their health. Family members should provide them support. Public awareness is necessary to ensure 100% institutional delivery. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla visited UNICEF Bhopal office and got information about various activities being carried out by UNICEF in the field of health and nutrition in Madhya Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that the government will provide full support to the officers and employees of UNICEF in the activities conducted. He said that with integrated efforts we will together strengthen the health system in the state. We will make Madhya Pradesh the leading state of the country in various health parameters. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that the Madhya Pradesh government is making continuous efforts to improve the MMR and IMR standards in the state. Along with strengthening health services, we are in constant touch with health experts in the country and abroad.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that there is no shortage of resources. Health infrastructure is continuously being expanded. Medical educational institutions are being expanded for the availability of medical assistants and medical manpower. More than 33 thousand posts are being appointed in the Health and Medical Education Department. He said that along with the availability of better health services, social awareness is also important, so that timely identification of high risk pregnancy can be made and necessary diagnosis can be arranged. He received suggestions for organized efforts to improve IMR and MMR in the state. Office Incharge UNICEF Bhopal Dr. Anil Gulati provided information about various activities conducted by UNICEF in Madhya Pradesh. Various officials of UNICEF Bhopal including Health Specialist UNICEF Dr. Prashant Kumar were present.
