Every possible effort is being made to supply continuous and uninterrupted electricity to every electricity consumer in the state. The state is moving ahead with adequate power availability. At present the record available power capacity of the state is 23 thousand 788 MW. Under the able guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the department is continuously providing quality electricity to the consumers and is also providing prompt resolution to their problems. Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar said that a total of 10136 crore units of electricity was provided from December-2023 to November-2024, which is 1.67 percent more than the electricity supplied during this period last year. On December 20, the highest power supply in history till date, 18913 MW, was successfully supplied. Patrolling of lines and remote operation of very high voltage sub-stations is being done by Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company with the help of drones.
In order to provide relief to the domestic and agricultural consumers of the state in the tariff rates applicable for the financial year 2024-25, like previous years, the state government has decided to give an estimated subsidy of Rs 24 thousand 420 crore 8 lakh to the power companies. This subsidy will be given in Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana, Atal Krishi Jyoti Yojana, Tariff Subsidy and Free Electricity Supply Scheme. From December-23 to November-24, relief of about Rs 5482 crore has been given in Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana, Rs 13042 crore in Atal Krishi Yojana and Rs 4710 crore in Free Electricity Supply Scheme. More than one crore consumers are getting benefited every month in Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana, 26 lakh 59 thousand in Atal Krishi Jyoti Yojana and 9 lakh 3 thousand agricultural consumers are getting benefited every month in Free Electricity Supply Scheme.
A new record of highest ever electricity production of 28627 million units has been created by the thermal power plants of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company in the financial year 2023-24. This is the highest thermal power production in the history of the power generating company. Thermal power plants performed best in various parameters. The plant load factor (PLF) of thermal power plants during this period was 60.3 percent, which is the highest after the year 2019-20. During the financial year 23-24, 13 thermal units produced continuous and uninterrupted power for 100 days or more, out of which two units produced power for more than 200 days.
Electricity infrastructure is continuously developing in the state. Presently 33 KV. The number of lines has increased to 61 thousand 162 kilometers. 33 KV The number of lines has increased to 29 thousand 70 kilometers in the year 2003, 33 thousand 913 in the year 2008, 38 thousand 867 in the year 2011, 41 thousand 528 in the year 2013, 43 thousand 910 in the year 2014 and 61 thousand 162 kilometers in the year 2024. In the financial year 2023-24, 3165 km 11 KV line has been extended till March 2024. This sequence continues continuously.
Amarkantak Thermal Power Station Chachai of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company has succeeded in operating the unit of 210 MW installed capacity for 300 days continuously. This is the best performance after installation of the power unit. Similarly, the engineers and personnel of Shri Singaji Thermal Power Station Donglia (SSTPP Khandwa) have once again achieved success in operating Unit No. 3 of 660 MW installed capacity for 200 days.
To strengthen the power supply system, remarkable works of infrastructure construction have been done. To strengthen the transmission system, 14 very high pressure sub-stations have been established in the financial year 2023-24. Besides, 26 very high pressure power transformers have been energized. A total of 818.170 circuit kilometers of very high pressure lines have also been constructed. Not only this, by installing 25 additional ultra high pressure power transformers and increasing the capacity of 40 ultra high pressure power transformers, the capacity of ultra high pressure sub-stations has also been increased to 4630 MVA.
With the aim of providing permanent irrigation pump connections to the farmers soon, a scheme to install their own transformer has been implemented. Under the scheme, farmers can install transformers on their own or in groups as per the prescribed criteria. Under the scheme, one lakh 40 thousand 101 transformers have been installed by November 2024.
New electricity tariff for industrial and high pressure (HT) electricity consumers, low pressure (LT) industrial and non-domestic consumers (whose load is more than 10 kW) in the state during day time (during solar energy hours). 20 percent rebate in energy charges has been implemented on energy consumption between 9 am to 5 pm and 20 percent surcharge has been implemented on energy consumption between 5 pm to 10 pm. This has resulted in reduction in electricity bills for consumers for day time consumption and also controlling the demand for coal based power during peak demand periods. He said that a total of 10025 industrial and high pressure consumers of the state have benefited from this scheme of power distribution companies. They have been provided a rebate of Rs 310 crore 66 lakh by the three power distribution companies of the state since April.
