The court has become active regarding Indian businessman Gautam Adani, who is facing bribery charges in America. It is reported that the US court has decided to hear the sentencing hearing of all the cases registered against Adani and others. The businessman was accused of paying bribes to get energy contracts. However, the group denied this.
According to media reports, the New York court has issued orders to club the case against Adani and others. The court has said that all the cases will be heard together in a joint trial. In fact, the Court has found that the allegations and transactions in all the cases are similar. Due to this this decision has been taken.
These cases include US vs. Adani and others (criminal case against Adani), Securities and Exchange Commission vs. Adani and others (civil case against Adani) and SEC vs. Cabanes (civil case against other accused). The court says that this decision has been taken to improve the judicial process and to avoid problems in case scheduling.
It is reported that all the cases will be assigned to District Judge Nicholas G. Garofis. Justice Garofir is also looking after the ongoing criminal cases against Adani. At present, orders in this regard have been issued to the court staff. Adani and others are accused of paying bribe of Rs 2,29 crore to get solar energy contract. Adani Group had termed the allegations as baseless and said, ‘We are a law abiding organisation.’
