special note
Madhya Pradesh will become mining capital through innovations
Bhopal
Inspired by the innovations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Madhya Pradesh government is making innovations in mining under the able leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. For the first time in the state, 2 blocks of critical minerals have been put in auction. Madhya Pradesh has come first in the country by auctioning the maximum number of mineral blocks. The state’s economic condition is becoming stronger due to the state’s rich mineral resources and new mining policies. Utilization of mineral resources will not only increase revenue but will also create new employment opportunities. The state has huge reserves of minerals like coal, limestone, dolomite and bauxite. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the state is reaching new heights by earning more revenue in the field of mining.
Mineral revenue collection in the state increased by 23 percent compared to the financial year 2023-24, for the first time in the state the mineral revenue collection reached 5 digits. Whereas in the financial year 2023-24, Rs 4 thousand 958 crore 98 lakh was received during this period. Whereas in the year 2024-25 this achievement has been achieved more than Rs 10 thousand crores.
First in the auction of Madhya Pradesh mineral blocks
Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country in auctioning the largest number of major mineral blocks. Currently, the Government of India has set a target of increasing the country’s self-reliance on strategic and critical minerals, so that the dependence on imports of these minerals can be reduced. So far, the state has successfully auctioned 8 mineral blocks of graphite and 6 blocks of rock-phosphate mineral under this mineral group. Tender Invitation Notice (NIT) has been issued by the department on August 9, 2024 for the auction of 20 blocks of main mineral, the proceedings of which are in progress. Apart from this, 4 blocks of important mineral Gold, 16 blocks of Manganese mineral and one block of Copper have been successfully auctioned so far. The exploration policy was made effective by the Government of India in January-2024. Under this policy, 2 blocks of critical minerals have been put in auction by the state of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state to implement this policy of the Central Government. The state also ranks first in the field of mineral exploration. Work is being done in the state for strategic and critical minerals, mainly rock-phosphate, graphite, glauconite, platinum and rare metals (REE). Under this, exploration work was done on 11 areas.
Under the District Mineral Department in the state, 16 thousand 452 projects have been approved for various development works, including drinking water, medicine, education, women and child welfare, cleanliness, skill development and elderly and disabled welfare, which cost Rs 4406 crore. Out of these, work of 7 thousand 583 projects costing Rs 1810 crore has been completed.
Establishment of e-checkgate to stop illegal mining
To stop illegal transportation of minerals in the state, 41 AI based e-checkgates are being established. Vehicles involved in mineral transportation can be checked at the e-checkgate with the help of varifocal cameras, RFID readers and automatic number plate readers. As a pilot project in the project, work has been started by installing e-checkgates at 4 important places for mineral transportation. To monitor illegal transportation, a command and control center has been established at the state level in Bhopal and district command centers in Bhopal and Raisen districts. The target is to establish all 41 e-checkgates by this year.
Satellite and drone based project has been started to prevent illegal mining. Through this project, the mine area has been demarcated by giving geo tags to 7 thousand mines. Once this project is fully implemented, effective action will be taken by identifying illegal mining. After the implementation of the project, the quantity of excavated minerals can be accurately estimated by doing 3-D imaging and volumetric analysis inside the approved mine. Innovations in mining will ensure the economic progress of the state and will also give Madhya Pradesh a new identity as a mineral producing state at the national level.
encouragement to private sector
Madhya Pradesh government is encouraging the private sector to make better use of the abundant mineral resources of the state. In the Mining Conclave recently organized in Bhopal under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, many big companies have expressed their desire to invest in the mining sector. Investment proposals worth more than Rs 20 thousand crore have been received in the conclave. The state government has made many reforms to promote the mineral sector. These include steps like transparent auction process, eco-friendly mining and providing profit sharing to local communities.
The country’s only diamond deposit is in the state
The country’s only diamond deposit is in Panna district of the state. The diamond mine produces one lakh carats of diamonds every year. Malajkhand Copper Mine is the largest copper mine in India. Every day 5 to 10 thousand pieces of copper are extracted from this mine. 70 percent of India’s total copper reserves are in Madhya Pradesh. Sasan coal mine located in the state is also famous for its huge mining equipment. Madhya Pradesh is the fourth largest coal producing state in the country. The state has mineral resources like lime-stone, diamond and pyrophyllite.
There are mineral reserves in the districts of Madhya Pradesh, which include lime-stone, bauxite, graphite, gold and granite in Satna, Rewa and Sidhi, coal, gold and iron in Singrauli, coal, coal bed, methane and bauxite in Shahdol, Anuppur and Umaria. , Diamond, rock phosphate, iron, granite, lime, diaspore and pyrophyllite in Chhatarpur, Sagar and Panna, Jabalpur and Bauxite, Dolomite, Iron, Lime-stone, Manganese, Gold and Marble in Katni, Lime-stone in Neemuch and Dhar, Coal, Graphite, Granite, Lead and Zinc in Betul, Coal, Manganese and Dolomite in Chhindwara, Copper in Balaghat, Manganese, Dolomite, Lime-stone and Bauxite, Dolomite in Mandla and Dindori and There are reserves of bauxite, iron, flag-stone and quartz in Gwalior and Shivpuri, rock phosphate, dolomite, lime-stone, manganese and graphite in Jhabua and Alirajpur.
