Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) scheme of the Central Government, the work of installing smart meters in the company’s work area has been started at a rapid pace by the Central Region Electricity Distribution Company. Wherever smart meters have been installed, billing and reading is happening on time. So far, 76 thousand 277 smart meters have been installed in 16 districts of Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior and Chambal divisions of the company’s jurisdiction. Of these, 66 thousand 943 in Bhopal city circle, 6 thousand 745 in Bhopal rural, 97 in Gwalior city circle, 559 in Gwalior rural, 1 thousand 414 in Narmadapuram rural, 99 in Betul rural, 102 in Rajgarh rural, 305 in Sehore rural, 14 smart meters in Vidisha rural Have been established. The company has said that installation of smart meters will provide better services to consumers, accurate billing and improvement in energy efficiency. The company’s teams are continuously working to complete the work of installing smart meters within the time limit.
Explaining the benefits of smart meter, the company has said that real time data can be obtained from smart meter, thereby ensuring accurate and timely billing to the consumers. Apart from this, necessary corrective steps are being taken to simplify and speed up the approval process. Wherever smart meters have been installed, billing and reading are being done on time, hence all the consumers are satisfied.
