Sonakchh Tehsildar Manish Jain and Babu Jai Singh of his office were caught red handed by Lokayukta while taking bribe. This action was taken by the Ujjain Lokayukta team at the Tehsil office on Friday evening. Tehsildar and Babu were taking a bribe of seven thousand rupees in exchange for transfer of plot. The complaint was lodged by Congress Scheduled Caste Cell District President Ravindra Dangia. Dangia told the Lokayukta that a bribe of Rs 7,000 was demanded by the subordinate staff of the Tehsildar for the transfer of name of a plot located in village Saver near Sonkachch. Lokayukta plans action after verifying the complaint.
Earlier Babu had taken bribe
On Friday, Tehsildar Jain had gone to the warehouse to inspect the fertilizer distribution system. On returning, complainant Dangia gave seven thousand rupees to Babu Jai Singh. Babu handed over this amount to the Tehsildar, soon after which the Lokayukta team caught both of them. Babu Jai Singh is a primary teacher attached in the Tehsil office.

Lokayukta has registered a case against both of them under the Prevention of Corruption Act and started the paperwork. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the demand for bribe was made on the instructions of the Tehsildar. The Lokayukta team said that further legal procedure will be adopted after a detailed investigation of the matter.
Audit officer caught red handed taking bribe
Cooperative Department audit officer Ramesh Prasad Kori was arrested red-handed by the team of Lokayukta Sagar on Friday evening while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000. This bribe was demanded in exchange for not finding any flaw in the audit of Service Cooperative Society Khiriya Mandla. Committee manager Jeevanlal Patel had lodged a complaint in Lokayukta Sagar that the audit officer had demanded bribe from him. After investigation, the Lokayukta team took this action at Damoh Cooperative Office. During the proceedings, the officer was caught taking Rs 15,000.
