Bhopal
Proper development of cities, economic improvement and improvement in the lifestyle of citizens are mainly being done through Smart City Scheme. Under the scheme, 21 works worth Rs 1253 crore 65 lakh have been completed in the last one year in all seven smart cities. At present 43 works worth Rs 828 crore are in progress. The 7 cities of the state include Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Sagar and Satna.
Selection of 2 cities in CITIIS
Under the Smart City Scheme, 2 smart city cities of the state, Ujjain and Jabalpur, have been selected by the Central Government under Component-1 of ‘The City Investments to Innovate Integrate and Sustain’ (CITIIS 2.0) program. Under the scheme, each city selected for works related to solid waste management will receive a grant amounting to Rs 135 crore. Under Challenge Component-2, the Urban Development and Housing Department has prepared the proposal and sent it to the Central Government for approval.
Honor to Jabalpur-Indore Smart City
Jabalpur and Indore Smart City have been honored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Central Government for the work done under Nurturing Neighborhood 1.0. Development work of Anganwadi, parks and construction of vaccination centers for children in civil hospitals have been mainly done by Jabalpur Smart City. Development works have been done in public places and most of the settlements by Indore Smart City. Development works like Jigyasarat Umang Vatika and Karmarath etc. are in progress in Indore Smart City.
Jabalpur and Pithampur proposals
As per the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Central Government, under the Incubation of New Cities Challenge, proposals for Jabalpur Textile and Logistics Cluster and Pithampur Smart Industrial Township Sector-7 have been prepared and sent to New Delhi. The selected city will receive an amount of Rs 1000 crore as VGF.
Unity Mall in Ujjain city
Under the Central Government’s Scheme for Special Assistance to States under Part-VI, a unit mall is being constructed in Ujjain city at a cost of Rs 284 crore for the promotion and sale of ‘One District-One Product’. An amount of Rs 142 crore has been released as the first installment to this project. With the scheme, along with encouragement to local products, small and medium traders in the districts will get the above mentioned space to sell their products. The target has been set to complete this work by August 2025.
