National security agency NIA has conducted raids in many areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. NIA’s action is related to Naxal cases. Many objectionable Naxal material including Rs 1.5 lakh cash has been recovered during the raid. The raid has been conducted in Garadih area of Jharkhand after the arrest of Naxal cadre Krishna Hansda in 2023. At the same time, raids have also been conducted at more than 11 sensitive places in Naxal affected Gariaband and Dhamtari districts of Chhattisgarh.
The NIA on Friday raided several places in Giridih, Jharkhand in a case related to the Communist Party of India (Maoist). According to officials, during the raid, NIA teams conducted thorough searches of the houses and other premises of the suspects and Naxalites, in which several mobile phones and SIM cards and other incriminating materials were seized.
The seized items are being investigated. The raid was conducted after the arrest of Krishna Hansda, a Naxal cadre of the banned terrorist organization CPI (Maoist). Hansda, a regional committee member of CPI (Maoist), was arrested from Lucio forest area of Dumri in January 2023. NIA took over this case in June 2023. The NIA traced links between several suspects and Naxalites, who are believed to be involved in the supply of logistics and electronic goods to the CPI (Maoist) in Parasnath area of Giridih.
Apart from this, NI also raided the premises of 11 suspects in Rawandiggi, Semra, Mainpur, Ghoragaon, Kerabahra and Gariaband villages of sensitive Maoist affected areas of Gariaband and Dhamtari districts of Chhattisgarh.
In Chhattisgarh, during the assembly elections in 2023, after voting, a polling party was attacked with a blast in Badegobra, in which an ITBP head constable was martyred. Naxalites are suspected to be associated with Mainpur-Nuapara division in the incident. The names of the suspects whose premises were searched today came to light during the NIA investigation into the case.
According to the information, during the search, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and other objectionable materials including pamphlets, booklets, mobile phones and digital devices related to Naxalites were seized. The anti-terrorism agency has so far filed a chargesheet against 10 accused in this case.
