The match was played between UP and Tamil Nadu in the third phase of Vijay Hazare Trophy. In this match, UP suffered a crushing defeat by 114 runs. Shahrukh Khan played an unbeaten century for Tamil Nadu. Whereas, captain Rinku Singh had scored a half-century from UP’s side. Shahrukh Khan was adjudged player of the match for his century.
UP captain Rinku Singh won the toss and decided to bowl first. Due to rain the match was played in 47-47 overs. Batting first, Tamil Nadu scored 284 runs for 5 wickets thanks to Shahrukh Khan’s unbeaten 132 runs. Middle order batsman Shahrukh Khan batted amazingly. Hit 7 sixes and 13 fours in his innings. During this period he faced 85 balls.
Partnership of 216 runs for the sixth wicket
Mohd came to bat at number seven along with Shahrukh Khan. Ali gave and he played an unbeaten inning of 76 runs on 75 balls. At one time, Tamil Nadu’s 5 wickets had fallen for 68 runs, but after this Shahrukh and Ali together made an unbeaten 216-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Yash Dayal took maximum 2 wickets for UP.
Rinku’s half century went in vain
Chasing the target, Rinku Singh, playing captaincy innings for UP, scored 55 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 6 fours in 43 balls. Apart from Rinku, Priyam Garg scored 48 runs, while Nitish Rana played an inning of 17 runs. The entire UP team was limited to 170 runs in 32.5 overs. Sandeep Warrier, Vijay Shankar and Varun Chakraborty took 2-2 wickets for Tamil Nadu.
