Madhya Pradesh government started a new scheme to promote solar energy, government will buy electricity

In Madhya Pradesh, a target has been set to meet 50 percent of the total electricity consumption from solar, wind and hydro power by the year 2030. For this, solar energy is being encouraged. Now the government has decided that the electricity produced from those installing solar power plants up to five megawatts will be purchased.

Not only this, 30 percent grant will also be given on the project cost. For this, the final decision will be taken on the proposal of Kusum C scheme of the New and Renewable Energy Department in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Thursday.

Electricity being supplied to Delhi Metro

In the year 2012, the renewable energy capacity in the state was about 500 MW. At present it has become seven thousand MW, which is 21 percent of the total energy capacity of the state. Electricity is being provided to Delhi Metro from Rewa Solar Energy Project and 195 MW electricity is being provided daily to Indian Railways from April 2024.

It is being used to operate trains in Goa, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. The government is taking several steps to make maximum use of this energy produced during the day.

20 percent discount will be given

Industrial units are being encouraged to increase consumption during the day. From April 1, 2025, domestic consumers will also be given 20 percent rebate in energy charges on electricity consumption during the day. Other such steps are also being taken. Now under the Kusum C scheme, the government will buy the electricity produced from solar power plants up to five MW.

Up to 30 percent grant will also be given. Along with this, after the foundation stone of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project is laid, it will be presented before the Cabinet for administrative approval.

More than 3 thousand villages will get benefits

The project will provide drinking water and irrigation in Sheopur, Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Agar, Indore, Dhar, Ujjain, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Sehore districts. 3,217 villages of the state will benefit from this. In Malwa and Chambal region, 6 lakh 13 thousand 520 hectares will be irrigated and drinking water will be available to a population of 40 lakh.
