Puri, Varanasi, Haridwar remained the leading religious destinations in the year 2024. According to the Oyo Rooms report, Puri, Varanasi and Haridwar have been the most visited spiritual destinations in the year 2024 while Hyderabad has recorded the highest number of bookings.
Travel technology platform Oyo’s ‘Travelpedia-2024’ report was released, which was prepared on the basis of data related to bookings on Oyo’s platform throughout the year. According to the report, there was a special emphasis on religious tourism in India this year in which the highest bookings were recorded for the cities of Puri, Varanasi and Haridwar. Apart from these, substantial growth was also seen in Deoghar, Palani and Govardhan.

According to the Oyo report, cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata topped the list in terms of bookings while Uttar Pradesh retained its position as the most popular state for travel. Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka remain the major contributors to the travel scenario. For smaller cities like Patna, Rajahmundry and Hubli, bookings have registered an increase of up to 48 percent on an annual basis.
Oyo said, this year also saw a surge in travel activities during the holidays. Jaipur remains the center of attraction among tourists followed by evergreen favorite destinations like Goa, Puducherry and Mysore. However, a decline in bookings was seen in Mumbai. Shrirang Godbole, Global Chief Services Officer, OYO, said, 2024 has been a year of change in the global travel landscape. We’ve seen how travelers are embracing flexibility and adaptability whether for business or leisure.
