An ex-serviceman has filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court demanding custody of his daughter. The retired soldier father has told in the court that his daughter is in the custody of the priests of ISKCON temple located on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway. The priests have allegedly brainwashed him. He is given drugs regularly. On the appeal of the ex-serviceman, Gujarat High Court has issued a notice to Ahmedabad Police asking it to produce the girl. The father alleges that the daughter had gone missing for the last six months. The petitioner, an ex-serviceman, has said that he has also expressed fear for his daughter’s life.
accused of brainwashing
During the hearing of the habeas corpus application filed by the petitioner father, he said in the court that my daughter regularly went to the famous ISKCON temple on SG Highway for darshan and worship. During that time she came in contact with the priests of ISKCON temple. During this time the priests of ISKCON temple completely brainwashed and influenced him. The father has alleged that after this the daughter ran away from home with the temple priest taking 23 tola gold and Rs 3.62 lakh in cash.
ordered marriage first
The father alleges that temple priest Sunder Mama had ordered the marriage of the petitioner’s daughter to one of his disciples. However, the petitioner refused saying that he had to marry his daughter in his own community. After that he received threats and eventually his daughter was banished from Mathura along with a disciple. The father alleges that the priest used to say that he was in the form of Krishna. 600 girls are Gopis. The petitioner father also alleged that the girls are being brainwashed in the ISKCON temple and they are being tortured in the name of religion.
attachment to family breaks
The ex-serviceman has said in the petition that the priests including Sundar Mama brainwash the devotees visiting the temple to such an extent that the Guru is more important than the parents and that the 600 girls living in the temple are Gopis and forced them to believe that It is said that he is Krishna form. The father alleges that his daughter is under illegal detention and imprisonment by the temple priests. The daughter is being given drugs and marijuana regularly. The father alleges that despite repeated complaints and appeals, the police did not make any effective efforts to find his daughter.
High Court notice to police
After hearing the father’s petition, the bench of Justice Sangeeta and Justice Sanjeev Thakar of the High Court has issued a notice to the state government, the city police commissioner, the PI of Meghaninagar police station, saying that the girl will be produced in the High Court. Apart from this, the High Court has also issued notice to the people associated with the management of ISKCON temple. The court has fixed further hearing in this case on January 9. No statement has been issued by ISKCON in this matter.
