India defeated Bangladesh to win the inaugural edition of Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup.

On the basis of Gongadi Trisha’s brilliant half-century, India defeated Bangladesh and won the title of the inaugural edition of Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup. In the final match played at Biamas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, India, batting first, scored 117 runs on the board at the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing this score, Bangladesh team got bundled out for 76 runs only and India Won this match by 41 runs. Gongadi Trisha was awarded the Player of the Match award for her excellent batting.

After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Gongadi Trisha was the only batsman for Team India who crossed the 20-run mark. This opening batsman played a brilliant inning of 52 runs in 47 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 skyscraper sixes. Five batsmen of the team could not even reach double figures. Farzana Ismin took maximum 4 wickets for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh team, which came out to chase the target of 118 runs, was seen faltering from the very beginning. The team’s batting performance can be gauged from the fact that Zuaria Firdous was the highest scorer with 22 runs and apart from her, only Fahmida Choya (18) touched double figures. Bangladesh team’s 9 batsmen could only score single digits. Ayushi Shukla shone in bowling for India and took 3 wickets.

This tournament was very wonderful for India. In the group stage, Team India defeated arch-rival Pakistan, while the match against Nepal was washed out due to rain. After this, in Super-4, India defeated Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and made its place in the title match.
