Panaji
The Governor of Bihar has given a statement regarding the British leaving India. Governor Rajendra Arlekar said in Goa that the British rulers did not leave India because of Satyagraha. When the British saw weapons in the hands of the people, they started feeling that people can now go to any extent.
Bihar Governor Arlekar said in Panaji Goa, ‘The invaders (British) tried to fabricate a story. But the truth is that the Indian freedom struggle was not fought without weapons. The British did not leave India because of ‘Satyagraha’.
The then government also supported
Referring to the Portuguese invasion of Goa, the Governor said that now the time has come to bring the correct perspective about history without fear. He made serious allegations against the previous Congress governments without taking their names. The Governor said, ‘The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) had created a story that you are born to become a slave and the then government also supported it.’
Asked, what is Goa Inquisition?
He was speaking on the book ‘A Brief History of the Freedom Struggle in the North East of India (1498 to 1947)’ written by Anandita Singh. Arlekar said, ‘What is Goa Inquisition? If we try to bring this to light, some people in Goa get upset. They feel pain. Shouldn’t we tell you what your roots are? Some people get upset when they are told where your roots are.
‘You should bring your perspective forward’
He said, ‘We should express our views without fearing anyone. Those who attacked us can never be ours. Therefore we should bring forward our point of view. If people from places like Guwahati are telling us their history, then why don’t the people of Goa write the true history of their land. Let us tell you that Arlekar has also been the former Speaker of Goa Assembly.
