In view of the severe cold in the state, the School Education Department has asked to maintain the electricity system in government schools so that studies can be conducted in the classrooms by keeping the windows closed during cold winds. Due to this, there should not be darkness and the study work should not be affected.
In view of the complaints received regarding the electricity system in the classrooms of government schools, the Directorate of Public Instruction has issued instructions to the District Education Officers. It says that the need for adequate lighting in classrooms increases when windows are closed in winter to protect against cold air. Due to lack of light, students have to face difficulties while studying. To improve this, necessary lighting arrangements should be made in the classrooms.
At least 4 LED tube lights should be arranged in every classroom. For lighting arrangements, an amount of Rs 20 thousand per school in 7 thousand 125 high and higher secondary schools has been made available to all the block education officers. The school in-charges have also been asked to repair the electrical switch board and wires under the internal electrification system along with the lighting system. In such government schools where there is no electrification, the estimate should be obtained from MPEB and sent to the senior office for approval. It has also been asked to give priority to this work.
