On one hand, attacks on Hindus are not stopping in Bangladesh. On the other hand, Mahfooz Alam, advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, has made anti-India remarks, on which the Ministry of External Affairs has expressed strong protest. There is an uproar over a Facebook post by Mahfooz Alam, one of the advisors to the interim government of Bangladesh. He had described West Bengal, Assam and Tripura as part of Bangladesh. However, he removed the post later.

India expressed strong protest
Commenting strongly, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that we have lodged our strong protest with the Bangladesh side on this issue. The Government of India has requested that no such comments should be made from Bangladesh which are anti-India. However, Mahfooz Alam later deleted the Facebook post. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have lodged our strong protest with the Bangladesh side on this issue. We understand that the post in question has reportedly been removed. We would like to remind all concerned parties to be mindful of their public comments.

What was written in the post?
Mahfooz had claimed in a Facebook post that his dream is for entire Bengal. Bengal is fragmented due to the politics of India and Pakistan. He wrote in the post, “Victory has been won, but complete liberation is still far away. We cannot get rid of Bangladesh through East Pakistan without restoring townships from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal. Even though he is not a minister in the interim government of Bangladesh, he is one of the influential people.”
