BJP may get a new national president by the end of February. According to a senior party official, the election process will be completed in half the states by mid-January. He said that in the states too, the tenure of 60 percent unit presidents is about to be completed. A new president can be appointed by the middle of next month. Let us tell you that JP Nadda has been the BJP President since 2020. Apart from this, he is also the Health Minister at the Centre.
A senior leader said, the new BJP president can assume the post by the end of February. He said that the new president can be from the government as well as from the organization. No final decision has been taken on this. Generally the tenure of BJP President is only three years. However, in view of the 2024 general elections, the tenure of JP Nadda was extended. BJP also returned after the general elections.
The discussion regarding the post of President in BJP has been going on for a long time. There was discussion regarding this in August also but at that time the elections of Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Jammu-Kashmir, Haryana were near. In such a situation, it was decided to maintain the status quo. After the Modi government was formed at the Center with full majority in 2014, Amit Shah was made the national president of the party for three years.
According to the constitution of the party, only that person can be made the national president who has been a member of the party for at least 15 years. Earlier, from 2010 to 2013, the command of the organization was with Nitin Gadkari. Rajnath Singh was the National President of BJP from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2014. Amit Shah headed the BJP from 2014 to 2020.
