In the last six years, more than 300 people have died due to drowning in closed mines in the district. These figures have been received from the District Disaster Management. On an average, more than 50 people lose their lives every year due to drowning in mines. Similarly, the number of deaths due to arson and snakebite is second.
On an average, 20 to 25 people die every year due to arson and snakebite in the district. In the last 11 months, there have been 191 cases of death due to natural disaster, in which an assistance amount of Rs 7 crore 52 lakh has been sanctioned to the relatives of the deceased. Assistance has also been given to the relatives of the deceased in cases pending from 2014 to 2024.
Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each
In case of death due to natural disaster, financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each is given to the relatives of the deceased. This amount provides great help to the relatives of the deceased in improving their financial condition.
Apart from drowning in water, incidents like scorpion sting, lightning, trees and houses falling due to heavy rains, mine subsidence etc. are also included in this. However, the number of deaths from such incidents is much less than deaths from drowning, arson and snakebites in closed mines.

Among those who died due to natural disaster, there were many whose family’s livelihood depended on their income. In such a situation, due to his death the family’s sources of income also stopped. With this assistance amount, the family of the deceased will now be able to start some business or any other work, which will improve their financial condition.

Assistance has been approved in 191 cases of death due to natural disaster. Rs 7 crore 52 lakh has been distributed to the relatives of the deceased. Instructions have been given to take immediate action in such cases.
