The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the Aadhaar card issuing body, has given relief to lakhs of Aadhaar holders. The facility to upload free online documents for updation has been extended till June 14, 2025. The free update deadline was initially set for June 14, 2024, then moved to September 14, 2024, before being extended to December 14, 2024.

The authority on Thursday posted that UIDAI extends the facility of free online document uploading till June 14, 2025 to benefit lakhs of Aadhaar number holders. This free service is available only on myAadhaar portal. UIDAI is encouraging people to keep the documents updated in their Aadhaar.

Those who are planning to change their Aadhaar card information have time till June 14, 2025 to do so. Earlier, the window for free updates had closed on December 14.

Steps to update Aadhar details online
1. Visit the Aadhaar Self Service Portal on the official website of UIDAI

By using your Aadhaar number, captcha and OTP sent to your mobile
log in.
Now go to the Document Updates menu and review the current details.

4. Select the appropriate document type from the drop-down list and upload the scanned copies of the original documents for verification.

5. Remember to note down the service request number. This will help you track the stage of processing of your Aadhaar update request.

Why is it important to update Aadhar
If any changes need to be incorporated in your Aadhaar database, you should update it to avoid any hassles later. For children, you need to keep in mind that if you have enrolled your child for Aadhaar when he or she was below five years of age, you will have to get the biometric records updated at least twice – once at the age of 5 years. After crossing the age of majority and second after completing 15 years.
