Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released a collection of the complete works of Tamil poet and freedom fighter Subramanya Bharati on his 143rd birth anniversary.
The title of this collection is ‘Kalvarisaiyil Bharatiya Padappugaal’ and it is the complete collected works of Mahakavi Bharatiyar in 21 volumes in chronological order. It has been compiled by Seeni Viswanathan.
At an event in Delhi, the Prime Minister paid tribute to poet Subramanya Bharati, remembering him as a profound thinker dedicated to the service of Mother India and lauded his visionary ideas for the future of the country. Also emphasized on youth and women empowerment, faith in science and innovation and integration of the nation through communication.
PM Modi said, “…I pay my humble tribute to this great poet and pay my heartfelt tribute to his legacy. Today is an important occasion to celebrate India’s cultural heritage, literary heritage and memories of its freedom struggle as well as the pride of Tamil Nadu. The publication of the works of the great poet Subramanya Bharati is a remarkable tribute to him.”
He said that the publication of the works and creations of the great poet Subramanya Bharati is a great service and a great spiritual practice. And today its completion is taking place. In our country words are not considered mere expressions. We are part of a culture that talks about “Shabd Brahma”, talks about the infinite power of the word. The words of our sages are not just their thoughts but the essence of their thinking, experience and meditation. A personality like Subramanya Bharti is found once in a century. His thinking, intelligence and multi-dimensional personality amazes everyone.
PM Modi said, “He was a person who understood what was hidden in the future. Even at a time when society was facing many problems, he advocated the empowerment of youth and women. He also believed in science and innovation. He had said that there should be such a device by which we can sit in Kanchi and see what is happening in Kashi and we are living it today.”
He said that Subramanya Bharti was a great thinker who worked keeping in mind the needs of the country. His vision was very broad. He worked in every direction which the country needed during that period. Bharatiyar is not only the heritage of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil language, he was a thinker whose every breath was dedicated to the service of Mother Bharati.
