A terrible accident has happened in Kurla, Mumbai. A bus of public transport service ‘BEST’ hit pedestrians and some vehicles on Monday night. Due to this, 6 people died and 30 people were injured. Police and BMC officials gave this information. BMC officials said that it is suspected that the accident near BMC Elward in Kurla occurred due to a fault in the brakes of the bus. He said that the bus driver has been taken into custody.

How did the accident happen?
BMC said that the driver of the BEST bus lost control of the vehicle on route number 332 and the bus hit the pedestrians and some vehicles. He told that after this the BEST bus entered a residential society named Buddha Colony and then stopped. Officials said three people were brought dead from the accident site to nearby Bhabha Hospital. He said that treatment of 30 injured including a teenage girl is going on in the hospital.

The accused driver will be presented in the court today at 2 pm. At the same time, BEST’s technical team will investigate the fault of the bus. It has also been revealed that Sanjay More had joined BEST as a driver on December 1 itself.

The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical. Many vehicles were damaged in the accident. He told that the registration number of the bus is MH01-EM-8228. He told that this bus was going from Kurla railway station to Andheri when the accident occurred. Another official said that this 12 meter long electric bus is manufactured by Hyderabad-based ‘Olectra Greentech’ and was taken on lease by BEST. He said that drivers of such buses are provided by private operators.

An official of the Tardeo Regional Transport Office (RTO) said the bus is just three months old. It has been registered on August 20 this year in the name of a company named EVEY Trans. ‘BEST’ officials said they were having trouble conducting the investigation due to the crowd at the scene. A police officer said that a large number of police personnel have been deployed at the incident site to maintain law and order.
