Leaders of minority religious groups in Bangladesh told the interim government’s chief advisor Muhammad Yunus that the bail plea of Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das should be considered. The bail hearing of Chinmoy Krishna Das, facing treason charges, is scheduled for January 2. The news related to attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh has exposed the government of Mohammad Yunus. Mohammad Yunus’s government does not want the news of the attacks to come before the world. Apart from this, he is trying to make it appear as if minorities are being attacked in the country and he is not aware of it.
Mohammad Yunus on Thursday sought cooperation from religious leaders to get accurate information about attacks on minorities and bring the culprits to justice. Yunus claimed that there is a difference between the reality and the news coming in the foreign media. “We want to know accurate information and want to establish a process to get it,” he said, according to Bangladesh’s state news agency BSS.
‘Bail is the right of every citizen’
“It is everyone’s right to get bail,” said Father Albert Rosario of St. Mary’s Cathedral. Famous Bangladeshi writer Farhad Mazhar also stressed Das’s right to bail. At the meeting, Sukomal Barua, chief advisor of Bangladesh Buddhist Association, proposed to organize an international conference for peace and unity. Avinash Mitra, assistant secretary of Ramna Harichand temple, said the Hindu community put forth its grievances and Yunus listened to them patiently.
Sheikh Hasina’s speeches banned
A Bangladesh court on Thursday banned the telecast of any speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Former Prime Minister Hasina was ousted from power during massive protests in Bangladesh in August and after that she moved to India.
The decision of the special tribunal hearing cases related to telecast and publication of Hasina’s speeches came a day after the former prime minister addressed supporters of her Awami League party in New York for the first time through ‘digital’ medium. Is. In his address he accused Bangladesh’s interim leader, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, of committing genocide and failing to protect minorities, especially Hindus.
