Gwalior Consumer Forum has canceled the bail of Sahara India MD, Karunesh Awasthi in the Sahara Chitfund Scam case. The Forum confiscated the surety bonds of the accused and issued an arrest warrant and ordered him to appear in the next hearing. Karunesh Awasthi was granted bail in March 2023, but he could not comply with the conditions, due to which his bail was cancelled.
Gwalior Consumer Forum has canceled the bail of Sahara India MD Karunesh Awasthi in the Sahara Chitfund Scam case. Forum President Rajendra Prasad Sharma and member Revati Raman Mishra have also confiscated the surety bonds of the accused.
The Forum has also directed the Lucknow Police Commissioner to serve the arrest warrant of Karunesh Awasthi and produce him on the next date. Not only this, in this case, warrants have been issued against all the various MDs of Sahara Group who are accused in this fraud case.
Satya Sharma, who appeared on behalf of the complainant in this case, said that crores of rupees of people’s hard-earned money were squandered in Sahara Chit Fund. Company MD Karunesh Awasthi was made an accused in this case, due to which he remained in jail.
Bail conditions not fulfilled
Last year, he got bail in the month of March on the condition that he would be present at every hearing. He will also return people’s money, but in one year he neither returned the money in even one of the 55 cases nor appeared in even one of the six appearances.
In the forum, the petitioner’s advocate filed a petition for cancellation of bail, after which the forum gave its order and issued warrants for the accused.
