In the case of electricity theft, the Special Court of Multai District Betul has sentenced the accused Shri Arjun Buwade, a fine of Rs 22 thousand 810 and 4 months imprisonment for non-payment, under the Multai Distribution Center of Betul circle of the Central Region Electricity Distribution Company. Special Judge (Electrical) of Multai Court, Mr. Pankaj Chaturvedi has passed the decision on 19 November 2024 and has imposed fine on the accused Mr. Arjun Buwade, holding him guilty.
It is noteworthy that the Assistant Manager of Central Region Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. B.K. When Marawi conducted a surprise inspection of Village Savari, Tehsil Multai, the accused Mr. Arjun Buwade was found stealing domestic electricity by tapping incoming from 100 meter service line. On the spot, the accused was found to be using 1625 watts of electricity illegally. While taking action in the case, Panchnama was prepared for committing the crime of electricity theft under Section 135 of the Electricity Act and a provisional bill of Rs 22 thousand 07 was given to the accused. When accused Shri Arjun Buwade did not deposit the amount within the stipulated time period, a complaint was filed in the Special Court by the Deputy General Manager of the electricity company. After the evidence and the accused confessing his crime, the Special Court of Multai District Betul has sentenced the accused to a fine of Rs 22 thousand 810 and for non-payment of the fine, he has been sentenced to 4 months.
In view of this decision, the Central Region Electricity Distribution Company has requested all the common people to use electricity only after taking a valid connection. Unauthorized or illegal theft of electricity is a punishable offense and also has a provision for fine and imprisonment.
