Toxic smoke emitted from vehicles is also responsible for increasing pollution. Vehicles are not being checked in Indore. At present the AQI in the city (Indore AQI) has crossed 250. Smoke emitted from vehicles also plays an important role in increasing air pollution.
To curb the increasing air pollution in Indore city, it is mandatory for vehicles to obtain Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate so that pollution caused by vehicle smoke can be prevented.
According to the data of Transport Department, more than 32 lakh vehicles are registered in Indore. Only 53 centers are operating in the city for PUC certificate of these vehicles. There is pressure of 64 thousand vehicles at one centre, but the number of centers is not increasing.
Indore may not be in a situation like Delhi.
Same is the condition of other metros of the state. Checking of polluting vehicles is also important because due to pollution in Delhi, AQI has crossed 450, hence vigilance is necessary so that a situation like Delhi does not happen in Indore. Pollution is continuously increasing in the clean city air.
Increase in pollution has the biggest impact on our health. This causes diseases related to lungs and heart. Along with this, blood pressure also increases. It is very harmful for our body.
53 PUC centers in Indore
Indore has the highest number of 32 lakh 12 thousand 171 vehicles registered in the state, yet the number of centers that check vehicle pollution is less. A few months ago, 110 PUC centers were operating in Indore, but after making registration on the transport portal mandatory, now only 53 centers are operating. Many centers were closed due to the necessity of online.
Centers closed at most petrol pumps
Around 200 petrol pumps operate in Indore, but PUC centers at most of the petrol pumps are closed. According to the rules, it is mandatory to open PUC centers at all pumps. Generally, drivers are also negligent in getting PUC done.
The main reason for this is the non-checking of PUC certificate while checking vehicles in the state. The transport department and traffic police check other documents during investigation, but PUC does not ask for it.
The number will increase if centers are opened at all pumps.
Registration on the portal has been made mandatory for PUC centres. So far, 53 PUC centers in the city have been registered on the transport portal. A letter has been written to operate PUC centers at all the petrol pumps in the city. If PUC centers are opened at all the pumps then the number will increase. – Pradeep Sharma, RTO
Efforts will be made to increase PUC centers
In Madhya Pradesh, there are no PUC centers in proportion to the number of vehicles. The number of PUC centers is less in some cities. Efforts will be made to increase these. – Vinod Bhargava, Joint Commissioner, Transport Department Madhya Pradesh
Only one PUC center in Gwalior
The condition of all four metros of Madhya Pradesh is deplorable. Only one PUC center is operating in Gwalior, while the number of vehicles is more than 12 lakh. The number of vehicles in Jabalpur is 8.30 lakh. Despite this there are 57 PUC centres. There are 52 PUC centers in the state capital Bhopal to check 17 lakh vehicles. There are more than 32 lakh vehicles in Indore and 53 centers are operating.
