Railways has fully geared up to start train operations in Kashmir Valley in the month of January and preparations are going on war footing, while Vande Bharat Express will be the first train to go to Srinagar. Whereas now Railways has also started assessing those trains which are to be extended beyond Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station to Srinagar.
According to railway sources, of the trains that have been planned to be expanded, about 32 trains, including incoming and outgoing ones, will be extended to Srinagar. These include train number 12425-26 from New Delhi to Jammu Tawi, train number 16787-88 from Tirunelveli to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, train number 16317-18 from Kanya Kumari to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, train number 19803-04 from Kota to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, train no. Trains like 12331-32 Howrah to Jammu Tawi, Train No. 12445-46 New Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Train No. 16031-32 Chennai Central to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Train No. 11449-50 Jabalpur to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra etc. are included.
