Dantewada
Anganwadi worker Mrs. Ludri Nag District Dantewada is an aspirational district of Chhattisgarh state. Which is backward compared to other plain areas. Mainly tribals reside here, including Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste sections. Agriculture is the main source of income for most of the residents of the district. These residents depend on forest resources like mahua, tamarind, mango, tendu leaves, bass, tora, seasonal vegetables, wild tubers, fruits, different types of mushrooms etc. Agriculture is the main source of income for the villagers here. But apart from all this, some interior villages of South Bastar Dantewada are affected by Maoism due to which many of the government schemes are not fully implemented.
Similarly, there is a village affected by Maoism that after understanding the utility of Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme and the importance of pure drinking water, the villagers here came forward and cooperated in the implementation of the scheme and got the Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme 100 percent completed. In this sequence, Barrem, a dependent village of the highly sensitive Gram Panchayat Rewali of Kuakonda development block of the district, is about 49 km away from the district headquarters and 9 km from the main road. It is situated inside which can be reached via Murumwali road. Village Barrem, being a highly sensitive and Naxal affected area, is still backward in mentality, living style and development. The villagers do not talk much to outsiders or when pressed too much, they give simple and simple answers and go away.
Due to not being able to avail the expected benefits from the schemes, there was already a lot of problem regarding drinking water in the village. The villagers here depended only on hand pumps and Jhiriya and Chuan for drinking water. If the hand pump was faulty, they would use Chua water 2 to 3 km away from home for drinking. It took women and children about 6 hours just to collect drinking water. Due to this, women could not spare time for other work and taking care of children and children also did not go to school. Due to poor health, the people of Barrem village had to travel about 9 km. One has to go to the health center of village Sameli. At present there are total 03 settlements in the village Nayapara, Patel Para, Schoolpara. The total number of houses in this village is 34 and population is 151, in which the total number of males is 56, the total number of females is 66, the total number of children is 29. Earlier there were 03 hand pumps, 1 well and 02 solar for drinking water in the village. Traditionally, rural women used to filter drinking water through a cloth filter and store it in Matki Gundi etc. and use it for cooking and drinking as per requirement. The villagers here used to measure the purity of drinking water by looking at the turbidity of the water. If we talk about the problems here, the children of village Barrem did not go to school to do household work and take care of their younger brothers and sisters. Women self-help group of the village was formed but due to lack of time, they were not able to work in the group to improve their economic life nor were they able to take care of their health.
Therefore, when the villagers in village Barrem got information about the scheme in the public meeting under Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme, then the villagers understood that good life and future of children lies in the development of the village. In this way, the villagers came forward and started cooperating as per their capacity to bring and implement the scheme in the village. At present, to solve the above mentioned drinking water problem of village Barrem, under the announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission made by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 15 August 2019, the work has been successfully completed in the village. The main objective of the Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme in the village is to provide continuous pure drinking water to all the houses and every connection, 55 liters per day per person is getting the benefit of pure drinking water. With this GI structure and 12 meter staging, the villagers are continuously getting pure drinking water in their courtyard and are also earning economic income from the vegetable garden through waste water management. Due to the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme by the Public Health Engineering Department, children studying in 02 government schools and 01 Anganwadi in the village are getting drinking water for mid-day meal. Here, water is being supplied from a total of 02 nos. 6 meter staging solar and 1 GI 12 meter staging solar, 02 tanks of 5000 liters each and 90 GI 6 kg. cm. 2 U.P.V.C. Pipe-100m, HDPE Pipe 63 mm. By expanding the 1614 GV pipeline, Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme has been extended to all 34 houses and government buildings of the village.
