The Forest Department is establishing a new dimension in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh. The state’s first and only cactus garden is being prepared in the Sailana forest area, which will not only play an important role in environmental protection but will also prove to be an educational center for researchers and students.

Asia’s largest cactus garden is also built in Sailana in Ratlam district. But this is the first cactus garden of the Forest Department in Madhya Pradesh, in which cactus plants of more than 100 species will be planted, along with this, garden and other facilities will also be available here.

More than 100 species of cactus plants will be planted.

Under the scheme of the Forest Department, more than 100 species of cactus will be planted in this garden. Cactus saplings will be brought from Gujarat along with Madhya Pradesh. DFO N. Of. Dohra said that this project will be extremely useful for the conservation of special plants like cactus as well as for their scientific study.

How was the selection done?

The Sailana forest range in Ratlam district is spread over an area of ​​10 hectares. The Forest Department prepared the proposal for Cactus Garden three months ago. The first proposal was sent to Bhopal at the government level. From there it reached the central government. This proposal was included in PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Central Green India Mission Plan’.

10 to 15 Nagar Vatika (Garden), Nagar Van and Small Nagar Vatika were approved by the Center in the entire country. In Small Nagar Vatika, only Ratlam’s tourist forest area in the state was selected. Since then, work for the cactus garden in the forest area has started. The forest area is being cleaned. The work of digging pits is being done by leveling the place where the garden will be built.

If you are thinking that only cactus garden will be seen in the forest area of ​​Sailana. So it is not so, you will get everything in one place to visit here along with Cactus Garden, Oxygen Park, Butterfly Park, Flower Park, Kids Park with swings in the forest area. Along with this, constellation forest will also be prepared with the names of zodiac signs and nine planets according to their names. In which saplings will be planted according to name and constellation.

Medicinal garden will be visible on the statue

Under the Central Green India Mission scheme of PM Narendra Modi, the human structure of the medicinal garden (Aushadh Manav) will be set up. Medicine will be applied on this tractor. Which medicine is necessary for body related disease will be known through this medicine human structure.

40 lakh project, will be ready in one year

DFO Naresh Kumar Dohre said that funds will be given from the Central Government to develop cactus garden and other facilities. The entire project is worth Rs 40 lakh. In the first phase, the Forest Department has received an amount of Rs 27.50 lakh. We have also started the work.

Will bring plants from these places

Cactus plants will be brought from Gujarat, Bhopal and Indore for the cactus garden. Saplings have been brought from Sailana’s cactus garden and planted in the forest area where the garden will be built. There is just a need to beautify this forest area.

QR codes will be placed on plants

Technology will also be used to provide information about the plants to be planted in the cactus garden. Next to each plant, its name and species will be written. Along with this, QR codes will also be installed in front of the plants. So that the visitors to the garden can easily get information about those plants. As soon as the QR code is scanned, all the information about the plants will appear on the mobile screen.

According to DFO Naresh Kumar Dohra, after the development of the garden, eco-tourism will get a boost in Sailana and Ratlam areas. This garden will become a center of attraction for tourists. It will also prove to be very useful for Botany students and researchers.

There is already a garden in Sailana

Sailana has Asia’s first cactus garden. This garden was planted by the Maharaja of Sailana in his personal place years ago. Many species of cactus plants, from small to big, are planted here. To see this, a large number of tourists from Ratlam district and other states also come.

Sailana is located about 18 km from Ratlam on Ratlam-Banswara road. Known as Sailana tourist area. Here, Kalyan Kedareshwar is situated between the hills on Shivgarh road and Lord Bholenath is situated inside the mountains on Banswara road. Thousands of people reach these two places during the rainy season and the month of Sawan. The flowing waterfalls and greenery all around remain the center of attraction during the rains. Cactus Garden is being developed in 10 hectare area of ​​Sailana forest area. 150 types of trees will be planted in this botanical garden, including some rare and endangered species.

Through technological innovation, obtaining information about the trees planted in the garden has also been made simple. A QR code will be placed on every tree, when scanned, detailed information about that tree will be available on the mobile screen.

The development of the cactus garden is estimated to cost approximately Rs 50 lakh, and will be completed within 6 months. After the development of the garden, it will also promote eco-tourism in Sailana and Ratlam areas.
