Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the Champions Trophy tour will start from November 16, which will visit major cities along with Skardu, Murree, Hunza and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. PCB made special mention of these three cities of POK in the message written on X.

Due to India and Pakistan, clouds of danger are looming over the ICC Champions Trophy. The latest news is that Pakistan, enraged after India’s refusal, has also dragged PoK into this issue.

Actually, the Pakistan Cricket Control Board (PCB) has planned to tour different cities of the country with the Champions Trophy. The cities where the trophy will go include Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). It is believed that such action is being taken by Pakistan to provoke India.

What happened so far in the Champions Trophy controversy

  • ICC’s inaugural Champions Trophy is to be held in Pakistan in February and March next year, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to send its team.
  • Since then, there is a cloud of crisis over organizing the Champions Trophy. ICC wants the match for India to be held in some other country, but Pakistan is not ready for it.
  • In Pakistan, the cricket board as well as the government have made it a question of their respect. Pakistan says that the event will be held there and cricket can be played without India.
  • Meanwhile, the ball is in the ICC’s court. ICC is emphasizing on hybrid model, but if Pakistan remains adamant, then it is feared that the event itself may be cancelled.

Why does India not want to play in Pakistan?

BCCI is bound by its government’s stand in this matter. The Indian government clearly says that when Pakistan does not end cross-border terrorism, relations with it cannot be normal. This is the reason why India is not playing cricket with Pakistan except in neutral countries.

Why is this event important for Pakistan?

Organizing Champions Trophy is very important for Pakistan. This is the first time since 1996 that an ICC event is being held in Pakistan. If the Champions Trophy is snatched away, Pakistan will suffer huge economic loss. This is the reason why there is panic in Pakistan after India’s refusal.

There is a tremendous atmosphere in Pakistan on this issue. People are venting their anger against India on social media. BCCI is being accused of bullying on the basis of money.
