tribal pride day
Bhopal

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that “Abua Dishom-Abua Raj”… Today we all are on the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, who proclaimed the importance of his country and his soil and who awakened the consciousness of independence, self-respect and Swaraj through the Ulgulan Revolution. We pay our respects to him. Lord Birsa Munda fought a long struggle to protect tribal culture, self-respect and independence and became a symbol of tribal pride. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the tradition of organizing “Tribal Pride Day” every year on 15 November, the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, to remember his unprecedented contribution.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Birsa Munda, the protector of water, forest and land, opposed the occupation of forests by the British by enacting the Forest Act in the year 1893-94, raised his voice against exploitation and started the Ulgulan Revolution for independence. He awakened the self-respect of the tribes and made them believe that this is their land and we are its protectors. To protect their land and soil, the tribes opened a front against the British under the leadership of Birsa Munda. This revolution was so effective that eventually the British passed the Chhota Nagpur Tenancy Law and the tribes received their rights.

revelation of glorious past

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the main objective of organizing Tribal Pride Day is to bring before the society the glorious past of the tribal society and to preserve their culture and traditions. The sacrifices made by them for the defense of the nation should be revealed and the society should be aware of it, they should understand the importance of their culture and traditions and they should have a sense of identity. Today, a state level program is being organized in Shahdol and Dhar districts on the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, who was dedicated to society, culture and nation. I am happy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join us virtually in this program and guide us. Prime Minister Modi has laid the foundation of restoring the pride of tribes with the beginning of the celebration of Tribal Pride Day. Their aim is to develop the last man in the last line and especially to connect the vulnerable tribal groups with the mainstream of development. Madhya Pradesh government is working at various levels to fulfill the resolve of Prime Minister Modi for the welfare of the tribal society.

overall development goal of tribal community

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that last year, Prime Minister Modi launched the Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan (PM Jan-Mana) scheme on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day. The objective of this scheme is to make tribal communities self-reliant and their educational, economic, health and social development. I am happy that Madhya Pradesh has made a special achievement in the implementation of this scheme. Under PM Jan-Man Yojana, more than 11 lakh 35 thousand brothers and sisters of Baiga, Bharia and Sahariya special backward tribal groups living in 118 villages of 24 districts of the state are being provided assistance, employment and skill training to connect them to the new path of development. Work is being done. In this, new health centres, hostels, multipurpose centres, roads, bridges and other construction works including housing are being done at a cost of Rs 7 thousand 300 crores.

Giving an example, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Jhinjarai village of Seoni district has developed as a model village under PM Jan-Man Yojana. There was 100 percent implementation of public welfare schemes of the state government in this village. Not only this, 7 special backward tribal dominated villages in Chhindwara and Dindori districts and 6 in Katni are being developed as model villages. Bravery and valor are the fundamental nature of the tribes. Keeping this specialty in mind, PVTG battalion will be formed for the special backward tribal groups of the state under Shaurya Sankalp Yojana. For the education and future of tribal students, they are being given the benefit of pre-matric, post-matric, scholarship for foreign study, civil service incentive scheme and pre-examination training.

budget increase

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that for the overall development and welfare of the tribal class, we have made a provision of Rs 40 thousand 804 crore in this financial year, which is 23.4 percent more than the previous budget. The honorarium of tendu leaf collectors was increased from Rs 3,000 per standard bag to Rs 4,000. 35 lakh collectors have benefited from this. It was decided to form a special technical group for creating infrastructure for tribal development in the state. Under Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana, maximum additional assistance amount of Rs 3900 per hectare was approved. PESA Act was implemented to provide information about the rights of water, forest, land and labor to the tribals in the state and for their conservation and protection of cultural traditions.

Taking a special initiative towards the overall development of the tribal community and improving their standard of living, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Dharti Aaba Tribal Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan on October 2, 2024. The objective of this campaign is to create equal opportunities for the tribal population, development of socio-economic level, improvement of infrastructure and concrete progress in the field of health, education and livelihood in various states of the country including the state. Our aim is to achieve all-round development of 11 thousand 377 tribal dominated villages located in 267 development blocks of the state. Not only this, in this scheme the Central Government plans to prepare 100 Tribal Rural Haat Markets across the country. A target has been set to establish tribal rural market in 19 districts of the state. In this, ancient art of tribes, cultural symbols, craftsmanship, painting, toys, products made from clay and bamboo etc. will be displayed. This will enrich the traditional art culture and lead to economic and social empowerment of the tribal class.

Madhya Pradesh will make Modiji’s resolve come true

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that I am satisfied that the dream seen by Lord Birsa Munda for the self-respect and upliftment of the tribal society is taking shape today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will fully realize the resolve of the Prime Minister for tribal welfare. Madhya Pradesh has tried to implement his policies on the ground. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that today reminds us that the tribal society has made sacrifices for the nation and culture in every region and every period. There is a long chain of tribal brothers and sisters who sacrificed their lives in protecting the identity and culture of India. Tribal society has faced every invasion of India, which can be seen from the invasion of Greek invader Alexander till the British period.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that today if India is once again returning to its glory, then the sacrifices of the tribal society also have an important role in it. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav called upon us to take a pledge for the welfare, development and progress of the tribal society on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, the symbol of sacrifices. Tribute to the great warrior Lord Birsa Munda, who struggled throughout his life for water, forest, land, independence and self-respect and hearty greetings to the people of the state on Tribal Pride Day.
