Late Tuesday night, a serious dispute broke out between the family of a child and doctors at MY Hospital in Indore, in which 3 doctors and 2 security guards were injured. This incident happened during the treatment of a child admitted in the infant ward, where the child’s family members Deepak and Pradeep Solanki questioned the doctors about the health of the child. During this time the atmosphere became so heated that the matter reached a scuffle.
Dr. Shwetank Soni is working in the Pediatrics Department. He told that he was sitting in the chest ward, when at around 12 in the night Deepak and Pradeep Solanki came to meet him and started talking about the health of the child. According to the doctors, the family members were continuously expressing their displeasure and started accusing the hospital administration of negligence. The doctors tried to convince him but the family members were not ready to accept. Seeing the situation worsening, the doctors called the security guard of the hospital, but the family members got into a fight with the guard too. The situation worsened when Deepak and some other associates of Pradeep also reached there and scattered the documents kept in the doctors’ chamber. Meanwhile, the women accompanying the child’s family also abused and assaulted the lady guard. When the doctors objected to this, the family members started beating them too. During the incident, other doctors reached the spot and tried to calm down the matter, but they too became victims of the attack.
Junior doctors demonstrated
As soon as information about the incident was received, there was an uproar in the hospital. Other junior doctors present there also gathered and started demonstrating in support of their colleagues. During this, information was given to the police, after which MY Chowki and Sanyogitaganj police reached the spot. Sanyogitaganj police station in-charge (TI) Satish Patel said that as soon as information was received about the incident of assault on doctors and guards in the hospital, he reached the spot with the force and additional police force was deployed to control the situation. The doctors demanded registration of an FIR against the family members, on which the police officers registered the FIR at 4 am.
A case of assault was registered
On the complaint of Dr. Shwetank Soni, the police have registered a case of assault against Deepak Solanki and Pradeep Solanki and their associates. Police have detained two accused and the search for other accused is on. After the incident, the doctors had stopped work for some time in protest against the uproar, but returned to their duties after the FIR was filed. Considering the security situation in the hospital, the police officers camped in the hospital till morning and calmed the atmosphere there.
